Model 5.6: ANP - Bridge Selection

Short Description

This was an ANP model used to select bridge. This model give an illustration of the superiority of ANP models over AHP models when there is feedback from the alternatives to the criteria. In the AHP model, one would naturally assume that safety is more important than beauty (perhaps .75 to. 25) and the result would be that the beautiful bridge would not be chosen. But in reality, although the safe bridge is very very very safe, the beautiful bridge is also very safe. In the feedback model there are links from the bridges back to the criteria, and the criteria when evaluated for importance in view of the existing alternatives are more rationally evaluated so that the beautiful bridge in fact turns out to be preferred in the ANP model.
